چکیده

This paper describes a modulation scheme achieving FarEnd Crosstalk (FEXT) cancellation, assuming that joint signal processing among the users can be performed at either the receiver or at the transmitter side. The multi-user channel is modeled as a Multiple-Input-MultipleOutput (MIMO) system, and the development starts with the zero-forcing Generalized Decision Feedback Equalizer (GDFE) ([1]). Structures are derived, which combine the Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT) transmission technique ([2]) with either successive cancellation at the receiver or precoding at the transmitter. A promising application of the proposed scheme is in FEXT-limited Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) systems. Computer simulations demonstrate that significant performance improvements can be realized in such scenarios.

ADSL FEXT Cancellation with FIR Filters and a Comparative Study

In this paper we investigate a new technique in FEXT cancellation along with the comparison with other techniques in this area of research. In our algorithm, FIR filters are derived from channel and crosstalk transfer functions, which are the key part of FEXT canceling process. Its comparison with Vectored-DMT and Adaptive Multi-User Power Control shows its effectiveness in removing FEXT withou...

Analysis of Simulation Methods for Far-end Crosstalk Cancellation

The information capacity of current digital subscriber lines is limited mainly by a crosstalk in metallic cables. The influence of near-end crosstalk (NEXT) can be well cancelled by frequency duplex method, but the elimination of far-end crosstalk (FEXT) is not so easy. Therefore FEXT is the dominant source of disturbance in current digital subscriber lines (xDSL). One of the most promising sol...

MIMO Systems in the Subscriber-Line Network

We consider multi-tone modulation (DMT, Discrete Multitone, OFDM, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) over cable bundles and present a compact mathematical description of the transmission line. Both, nearand far-end crosstalk (NEXT, FEXT) are taken into account and a new method for removing far-end crosstalk is derived. Keywords— MIMO, Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output, FEXT-Cancellation, NEX...

Discrete Multitone Modulation With Principal Component Filter Banks

Discrete multitone (DMT) modulation is an attractive method for communication over a nonflat channel with possibly colored noise. The uniform discrete Fourier transforn (DFT) filter bank and cosine modulated filter bank have in the past been used in this system because of low complexity. We show in this paper that principal component filter banks (PCFB) which are known to be optimal for data co...

Optimal transceivers for DMT based multiuser communication

This paper considers discrete multitone (DMT) modulation for multiuser communications where different users are supported by the same system. These users may have differing quality of service (QoS) requirements, as quantified by their respective bit rate and symbol error rate specifications. Our goal is to minimize the transmitted power given the QoS specifications for the different users, subj...
